PCWorld announced winners of 2008 Best Gaming Site award.  Decision to pick winner was based on three metrics. Weight for user evaluation was low 20%, so one can very well imagine a subjective approach in deciding the winners.

Design Score (40 points)
Our experts rated sites on two levels — design and usability. Design included colors, typography, visual appeal, consistency and typography. Usability took account interactivity and customization to India.

Technology (40 points)
Also had two sub categories with 20 points each. One covered navigation with structure, interface and scope. Functionality included diversity error handling and security.

User evaluation (20 points)
Actual users scored on content and overall experience. These were all tallied to arrive at the final winners in ach category. In case of a tie, the website with a  higher technology score was declared the winner.

For our readers we looked at the Gaming section. PCWorld considered three sites for selection - Indya.com, Zapak.com and Kreeda.com

Indya.com is a sister outlet for Games2Win and gets lot of support from Star India group. It’s popular Desi section hosts many familiar titles - Gully Cricket, Encounter Specialist, Dabbawalla International, Dungfoo Donkey, Macchar Maaro, Prince of Kurukshetra, Bombay Taxi, Agent 420 etc.

Kreeda is another popular site, known for it’s danceMela. Site layout was confusing to me and it was hard to figure out what they wanted to new users to do on the site. Game concept impressed me most and this is something I will be trying in near future.

Third company which was part of the list was Zapak.com. Zapak considers itself complete gaming value chain company and boasts big traffic numbers.

Here are the Compete statistics for three sites. Zapak has edge due to it’s diverse traffic sources and Kreeda is relatively newcomer to merit big traffic.
